I’ve just attended a 3 day workshop. It was really amazing. Very hands on as well as including great lectures and explanations. Everyone is really helpful and it was great... read more fun. I went because my horse was lame after some trims. I knew of HM as one of the instructors had trimmed my horse in the past and he had always been sound. This is because they are so knowledgeable about the hoof and natural hoof care. I’d recommend all good are professionals do this as part of their continuing development. I learnt so much and can now advocate for my horses and have the skills to do a maintenance trim. It’s really worthwhile.

The practical sessions;learning how to trim and also seeing the various pathologies and anatomy of the horses’s legs and feet are mind blowing- in a good way! All respectfully delivered. I surprised myself about how easy it was to be with the cadaver legs, after the initial worry . It is an essential part of the learning process, a fascinating privilege to work with them. I left feeling confident about exactly what to do to care for my horses, going forward. I now know how to trim a horse’s hoof - having handled at least 10 different legs over the weekend ! It was great to meet a group of like minded people and I enjoyed every minute of the whole experience. There is a friendly network and the team are always happy to answer questions. I regularly attend the workshops and have learnt more than I could have imagined. I love learning how to keep my horses healthy and happy but I also love being around the team, they are a great bunch and I have made some friends for life. My horses hooves and overall health has improved since I met the HM team, thanks to them, we are all happier!

So I was going to have to do them myself, I found Jaime's book, the Natural Hoof very complicated to follow re trimming technique. However, HMI's 3 day course was extremely informative, interesting and reassuring that I was literally on the right 'track' regarding diet and movement, plus gave me extra confidence in my ability to trim my own horses. Having been a horse owner for over 15 years, completing many equine courses and working with semi feral conservation ponies, the 3 day workshop I did with HMIS not only... read more tied all of my previous training together, but made me completely rethink equine management. I have implemented changes with my own horses and with the conservation ponies that I help care for, following the deeply science-based training from HMIS and I can honestly say that the results have been amazing. I was really surprised at how intensive the course was, we learned so much in three short days, and there was always an HMIPro on hand to answer questions, explain things, encourage us and support us. The course despite being so intense, is a step by step process rooted in science and the HMI Team made sure that everything fell into place easily for all students. Because of this course I now feel I have the confidence and knowledge to implement changes that will benefit the well being of both my own and the conservation ponies I help care for, and the changes I have already made are already showing positive results. What can I say....I attended a 3 day workshop, I just wanted to know how to maintain my ponies feet between farrier visits.... well that didnt happen... ...instead, I ended up... read more relearning a life time of horse ownership! Nearly 18 months on, and all my ponies are living out happily, 24/7, I trim their feet and we've virtually had no laminitis, considering all 12 of them suffered with chronic laminitis for years... im taking that as a win. Infact this team of wonderful people have changed my life so much, I even decided to join them and start training to become a Barefoot Trimmer/Professional. Ive met some awesome people on this journey so far, and with it has come some amazing friends.
